A few days ago, a friend of mine threw me a link on MSN: http://www.rams.jp/hanoka
"See this! 'Hanoka'! You've got to watch it!"
"Err... It's Flash animation."
"Exactly! Flash anime on TV!"
No matter how good a Flash animation is made, you will always be able to tell it's a Flash animation. This is due to the tweening feature which gives it away easily. So unless your Flash is godlike, you can stop dreaming about getting it aired on TV. But somehow Morino Aruzi managed to do it.
Then my friend went on to say, "This is the creator's site: http://www.morinono.net. And I believe the thing that made him famous is this."
Basically, Morino Aruzi uploaded one of his/her works "Yukino" online one day. Some girl from a drama group saw the animation by chance and was deeply touched by it. Thus she got in contact with Morino, gathered a few people, and voila! did voiceovers for the Flash animation! I lost the link to the dubbed version so you can go sulk in a corner now. And after that, somehow through some unknown connections, the TV station agreed to air Morino's Flash production "Hanoka". I do not know the reliability of this story though so don't blame me if it's wrong.
Firstly, let's take a look at "Yukino". The story isn't really anything special. A lonley member of the Time Patrol Force(or whatever you call it), Yukino, feels lonely as she doesn't have any friends. So while on a mission one day, she attempted to befriend the Time Creature the Time Patrol were supposed to hunt down. In the process she got swallowed. The creature later got killed, and Yukino was very sad. Not until one of the members offered to be her friend and told her that everyone in Time Patrol Force(lol) is her friend. Thus, a touched Yukino became happy. THE END. Sounds boring enough.
Boring is one thing, fame is yet another thing. Apparently the short Flash animation even led to a Yukino SRDX figurine.
The figurine looks okay enough for me. Not available somehow. Let's go on to take a look at the new Flash-made anime on TV, "Hanoka" (Leaf Scent? WTF is that?).
After watching the first episode, I can sort of predict the plot. A girl has been modified into a weapon and she is the last ultimate weapon against the enemies. She kills off the enemies reluctantly, for she doesn't want to fight. She becomes emo and yada yada. Somehow I find it very familiar. Saikano anyone?
"Hanoka"'s Flash animation looks rather good, at least better than that if "Yukino". I really want to post some URLs of some really cool Flash animations but I can't seem to find them anymore. Sigh. I shall anticipate episode 2 and see if my predictions are right. |
